Treatment: Imaging and Surgery Comments: Ogden, a five year old, male Dachshund came in for back pain and stumbling in the rear legs. There was a narrow disk space on initial back xrays and he was put on medicine for a week with little to no response. Follow Up Care: A CT scan of his back showed a massive disk extrusion at T11-T12 causing the back pain and neurologic signs in the rear legs. He went to surgery, and a large amount of calcified disk material was removed from around the spinal cord. Updates: At the 1 week post-op recheck, Ogden was able to walk normally, with little pain and almost no neurologic problems. The owner sees improvement everyday and can hardly keep up with little Ogden. |
